This is another episode of the series College Life. This is College Experience – Episode 6 – Part 4. Enjoy Reading!
Breakfast on way to College
We left for Chandanagar Station after getting ready. I was feeling very much hungry as we skipped breakfast. Mayukh was used to not doing breakfast because at this place he stayed as a tenant. It was not his original home so he always ate in the college canteen. He only did dinner at his landlord’s place. But I was used to breakfast so I was feeling very much hungry. There is a place on the station where they sell Potato Cutlets like thing and pierce (In our regional language it is known as Aloo Chop and Muri). We bought two of those. I was eating this thing after a long time. I used to eat it a lot when I was a kid, but taste changes with time. Anyway, the train arrived, all of us (my other friends and us) reached college.
So that day went by well, I reached home that evening. No place feels like home, right!
Thrills Begin in College
I’m gonna skip right to the part where all the thrills began related to this event. I don’t remember exactly but some work had to be done and we were given the task to give a presentation to the juniors regarding what a Hackathon is. This time Munshi was going to give the presentation. I was relieved but :), if you know what I meant by that emoji then congrats you are getting along quite well.
A kind of Daily Experience 🤷🏻‍♂️
A call came and after the call, he told us that he won’t be able to come to the college on the day of presentation. There was some work related to his startup, he had to do. Again, this presentation fell on me🤦🏻‍♂️. Of course, other members were also gonna be there, but at least this time I thought I would get some rest but I didn’t. So I went to the vice principal’s room and he was not so sure that the whole college would participate. So he was pretty much concerned regarding the total number of submissions. He told us that you guys have to submit individually 1 project. So he wanted a total submission of 7 projects from our team. But we were saved from this, will come to know that later.
I gave the presentation to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd year. Told them what a Hackathon is, explained to them the guidelines. Few teachers were present there too. We were going to conduct the Hackathon after two days in our college. So now we began preparation regarding the remaining projects.
My Team Preparations Begin
We used to do a Team conference call nearly 11:00 pm or 12:00 am. We were able to prepare only one project extra. I know that most of you must have been laughing by now. But after doing college the whole day, attending meetings with the teachers and all the presentations and clearing the doubts of the juniors I barely have the energy to work after midnight & that too on a conference call.
Next day we reached college. I had a backup plan ready to complete the scarcity of projects. There were a few teams in our class who were willing to participate in the hackathon but they had no one to guide them. So they were taking a step back. But I convinced them. I acted as a guide to a few of the teams. I helped them out a bit with their documentations and other doubts. And by the end of the day, we were able to generate more than 7 projects.
One thing I forgot to mention is that I didn’t expect that after a small presentation on such short notice the students would be so much boosted. They were preparing their presentations and documentation after classes in college. Some were sitting near the pond and preparing their documentation, some were sitting on the staircases, some were sitting in the corridors, some were sitting outside the library and all over the place. I was very much happy to see their efforts(One of my best college experience).
