Now let us talk about HTML Headings tag. You may have seen them before in the previous tutorials. To read the previous article Click Here. But this one is totally focused on them. Let’s dive into it without waiting for any further.

Types of HTML Headings

Okay so now there are mainly 6 types of Headings. From H1, going all the way to H6. As we increase in number, the size and boldness of the heading goes on decreasing. Example given below:

<h1>Heading 1</h1>

html heading 1

<h2>Heading 2</h2>

html heading 2

<h3>Heading 3</h3>

html heading 3

<h4>Heading 4</h4>

html heading 4

<h5>Heading 5</h5>

html heading 5

<h6>Heading 6</h6>

heading 6

Why Headings are IMPORTANT?

Headings are important in the sense, search engines crawl your web page and Headings help them index the structure of the page. They also help the users understand what the content is about. <h1> should hold the most important headings, after that <h2> should hold headings less important than that and <h6> the least important ones.

More on Headings

All the headings tag have their own default size, but you can change them using the style attributes on them.

<html>
<head>
<title>Headings</title>
</head>
<body>
<h1>It is the most important heading. This is h1 heading.</h1>
<p>It is not a hard and fast rule but it is recommended to have only h1 heading, which sums up what the content of your page is about</p>
<h2>This is level 2 heading i.e., h2</h2>
